What Are Large Pores?
Large pores are visible openings within the skin that correspond to the ducts of the skin’s sebaceous (oil) and sweat glands, allowing oil and perspiration to reach the skin’s surface. Pores are a completely natural part of the skin’s structure, but unfortunately, some patients naturally have more noticeable pores due to factors such as genetics, oil production, collagen loss, aging, and cumulative sun damage.
Pores are connected to the skin’s sebaceous glands, which produce oil that helps maintain hydration and protect the skin barrier. When excess oil, debris, reduced skin elasticity, or structural changes in the skin occur, pores may appear stretched or more prominent, particularly on the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin.
Although large pores are not medically harmful, they can contribute to uneven texture and reduced skin clarity, especially in certain lighting or alongside acne scarring and oiliness.
